Unique Custom Carving
Custom carving is our area of expertise! We make custom necklaces, custom pendants, custom earrings, custom charms, custom statues and more. Each piece is meticulously crafted in the material of your choice.
We love working with designers and bringing their creative visions to fruition. And, it’s always thrilling to see the variety of ways our carvings are used. We guarantee your design stays with you. We won’t use it in our pieces or show it to anyone outside of Susan Tereba – World on a String.
The following 6 steps outline our collaborative production process:
1. Provision of Design
You supply us with a drawing, a photo, or 3D object along with the desired dimensions for the finished piece.
We create a graphic of our interpretation of the design for discussion.
2. Choice of Material
You choose one of our materials: mammoth tusk, bovine bone (either tea stained or painted), tagua nut, jet, or one of our stones in stock.
3. Price Quote and Deposit
Price estimates for the sample piece are based on your choice of material and the complexity and size of your design. If you are ordering multiple pieces, we also provide a price for production.
4. Approval
Once the sample is finished, we send you photos for your approval. If you are happy with it, we either ship it to you after final payment, or, if you are producing multiples of the design, we retain it to do the production run.
5. Production
We can produce up to 30 pieces over a six week period. If you have multiple designs, please contact us for a production time estimate. For larger production runs, we will discuss a timeline.
6. Final Payment and Shipping
If you have chosen to do multiples of a design, we will send you photos of all the pieces for your approval. Once approved, we request final payment in full before shipping the pieces to you via Pos Expor from Bali. If the piece is in the States we will use Priority Mail.
Production considerations
Production considerations
We generally require six weeks for most orders, although the production time is often shorter. Bali and our master carvers have ongoing ritual obligations and the six-week lead time allows our artisans to keep their culture alive without pressure from us. We have great respect for the Balinese and their spiritual life.

What if I don’t like the sample and want to make changes?
We want our clients to be happy with our work and will gladly make changes until we get it right.
What do you do to guard the exclusivity of my design?
We protect the exclusivity of our client’s person’s design by not showing it to anyone else and not reproducing it for
ourselves.
