Hand-carved from tagua and hand-painted by a master Balinese artist, Ganesha symbolizes good luck, wisdom, and the clearing of obstacles. He is revered and celebrated throughout South Asia. He is believed to have been the scribe for the Mahabharata and as there was no pen he broke off one of his tusks to use as a writing implement. The piece is set into an apophyllite crystal found in the caves of Maharashtra, India and finished with Indonesian olive wood.
